Self Invested Personal Pensions
Posted by davidr on 22 nd in Self Invested Personal Pensions on 22nd of October 2010Managing the investment of personal pension funds is typically done by experienced third parties such as insurance companies. However, there are many individuals who prefer to do the investments themselves. Self Invested Personal Pensions or SIPP is meant for such persons.
SIPP is a UK government approved personal pension scheme that falls within Registered Pension Funds Schemes under Section 150 of the Finance Act 2004. SIPP subscribers can invest the pension funds in assets approved by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), and switch their investments in such assets. The scheme is administered by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the investments should be approved by an FSA regulated Independent Financial Advisor.
Managing one’s own funds in this manner enables the subscribers to invest in assets that generate the best returns while the requirements related to approved assets and the need for specific approval from Independent Financial Advisors make the investments comparatively safe.
Certain investments in real estate properties fall under the approved category of assets for SIPP investments. Crown’s land products in the Cayman Islands are so included. Developers of these properties in the Cayman, which is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, can arrange a consultation with a regulated Independent Financial Advisor for you.
With SIPP funds, investors can typically pay the full price of land plots on purchase instead of availing the five-year finance offered by the developers. And such full payment can mean the opportunity to obtain an assured 30 percent return on the investment over a five year period (as against 20 percent for those who pay in five yearly installments).
The Crown properties in the Cayman are excellent investments even without the assured returns (which are optional) because of the prospects of increase in land prices at this top tourist destination and financial centre are excellent.
